You criticize the church for brain-washing and being controlling....but I have never experienced anything to that effect in all my years as a member. I guess you are all bitter about something....I'm sorry you've had such negative encounters with "the church." I'm just glad that even though I've had negative experiences with other churches and even people within the Mormon religion, that I've been taught that I don't have to blame an entire belief system on that one person's mistakes... or make fun of their religious practices, etc.

These are obviously posted by people who have not been to church in awhile. LDS churches are going up everywhere. I guess they are building them because no one is coming. Inactivity has always been around and will increase as the church has more memebers (Duh). It is so funny to see you point to a problem and give the answer without even knowing it.

As you describe the slowing of conversion baptisms you make mention of and how they carelessly have baptized in the past. So the answer is the requirements for baptism are getting tougher. Requirements to serve a mission are stricter and Missionaries are being trained better and the interview process is becoming more selective. So I would argue that we are learning how to retain better than we did in the past. I guess we will be criticized for that too.

It is also funny to hear you talk about Latin America and church activity. Cultural differences play the greatest role in church attendence. Perhaps we should measure the size of the Roman Catholic church or any other denomination by the criteria you do the LDS such as weekly mass attendence, full tithe payers, living the commandments, etc.

I opened a city during my mission. Went back 5 years later and it was a full Ward with almost 100 attending. Your ignorance in posting such an ad is superceded only by your sheer stupidity, lack of common sense and obvious hatred of a people and belief you obviously don't know much about. Were you to take the time and become informed on this subject, I am certain you would be even as Paul of ancient of days, who went about persecuting the saints in his day, and upon finding things weren't as he perceived them to be, spent the remainder of his days striving to repair the damage he had done, seeking to rebuild and uplift, instead of tearing down and seeking to destroy further the efforts of those who's greatest desire was to do right. Now, in case you don't know who Paul is (and I am presuming you do not based on your obvious sense of religious persecution and stereotyping), he was one of the Saviour's most ardent supporters, eventually giving his life for the sake of Christianity. As for Mormons being polygamists, you really are ignorant arent you! You my friend, need to get a clue.

On the other hand, continuing in your present course helps further the work of those whose hearts are sincere, as your work makes you look like the fool you seem to be. Knowing who you are, and where you come from only makes your present circumstance that much more discouraging and I do feel much empathy for your present state. I am hopeful this same ignorance that compels you to convey such nonsense will be sufficient enough to shield you from that which is true until such time as you are really prepared to know and understand those truths.

If you are willing to put your reputation where your mouth is, I challenge you (IF you think you're brave enough) to contact the LDS missionaries in your area and find out first hand what the LDS church is all about. That is, IF you have the courage to do so. Which presently I doubt, as most people with views like yourself are too weak and scared to take this challenge. Given the stakes, which one are you? Because until you do take me up on my challenge, you will continue to be an excellent contemporary example of why Prejudice is alive and well; thanks in no small part, to misguided individuals such as yourself.

By the way, I'm on active duty with the Air Force, am LDS, have six (yes, that's six 6, one more than five, one less then seven in case you are as ignorant in academics are you are in the present topic) children and a gorgeous wife (as in ONE 1), to whom I've been married for almost 20 years. Polygamy is not lawful in the LDS church, and those who engage in such practices are excommunicated and/or imprisoned. The trouble with Steve Bensons's comments on Conference relayed through a teleprompter is thus: if he knew how the Old and New Testament (and a host of other Apocryphal writings for that matter) were constructed, then I'm sure he'd negate their inspirational origins as well. A man is inspired, and writes down his revelatory impressions. Thousands of years later, middle-aged men in suits, in solemnity, read selections of these writings in tandem with their own, latter-day, revelatory impressions. How is the entire talk not, therefore, based on inspiration if their constructions in these latter-days is similar to the biblical sermons of the prophets past? This website offers no explanations on this.

And finally, the trouble with dissenters is that no one on this website has pointed the way to "their" idea of a better, more enlightened truth. How bleak your futures all must be. You offer no "light" but instead reduce yourselves to pricks [kicking]. If your faith in the instituion of Mormonism is waning, then your testimony in the gospel has weakened in the first place (nothing to be ashamed of) and you should fast and pray for guidance. This is neither "love" nor "hate" mail but rather something you've probably heard before. I am a true-blue-through-and-through-died in the wool MORMON. Ooooo! Yes, I take fancy to these sort of sites because I have recently returned from a mission in Colorado. I met lots of people who were, as Jesus would put it, stiff necked and hard hearted and not take the time to read or pray or do anything that would resemble Christianity. I thought that's Christians were supposed to do, study and investigate.

Anyway, not to waste your time but, weren't you X-ed from the Church. It is easy to tell when someone is x-ed rather than them leaving of their own accord, they tend to do exactly what Sec. 121 of the Doctrine and Covenants talk about. You know,"kick against the pricks, persecute the saints"... that sort of thing. Well I just want to let you know that your site is entertaning as with all the others. You don't need to try to save me because that's been done a lot, it gets old after a while. By the way, are there going to be any churches around when Christ comes that have a congregation of like 15-20 people? It seems like everyone is breaking off into little groups. I thought Paul said that we would have Prophets to unify the Church. Maybe that's just that crazy Mormon talk. Besides, who would want to do what the Bible says right. I have been a member of the Church of Jesuschrist of latter-day saints for 12 years now, and I can't understand how people waist their time writing such things. If all these thing were true, won't you think it will eventually come out. And you wouldn't have to spend time on this. While you folks certainly have the right to do what you want, I find it rather surprising that those that are no longer affiliated with the Church go to such lengths to mock what they once held sacred. Perhaps you do so to justify your leaving the Church? Or could it be that you want to exact some sort of vengence on the Church because you were unable to accept something in Church doctrine? Maybe it's because you're petty and hold a grudge? Then again, maybe you do feel you're providing the world a service by exposing what you think is the truth behind Mormonism?

I came upon this site through a search engine where I was looking for something that had nothing to do with Mormonism. But, since I am a member of the LDS church, I am always curious about websites that may appear to be "good" and "spiritual" and the description did not relay anything that might be offensive. But, unfortunately, I overestimated the internet again.

Your sacrilegious website is a disgrace to the LDS church. Any one with a Christian heart, LDS or not, I'm sure would be appalled by this site. I would like to point out that LDS members do not have multipule wives. Those men that do obviously are not members of the church, and if they say they are, they are lying because you will be excommunicated if you have more than one wife at the same time. Yes, the re-organized church may believe in that, but I am not sure and unlike you all I will not lower myself to degrading thier religion and what they stand for and believe.

I have been taught throughout my life to truly pray about what I have been taught and ask God if it true through prayer. We are not taught that we have to believe everything that we are taught and that we need to find out for ourselves, and if we TRULY believe that it is not true, no one shuns you for believing what you feel is true. For those more unfortunate to be shuned by others, I am sorry but you can not blame all of us, because we are not all like that. Sure there are some people in this world who will shun you for not believing what they believe, but it is not only LDS who do that, it is also other churches that shun you for not participating in their beliefs. It is our human nature to be like that, but that is like saying that all white people are bad because you had a bad experience with one white person.

I rarely ever hear people degrading other religions. Everytime there is an anti-religion writing, it seems to always be about the LDS Faith. And why would that be, maybe beacause we do have the thruth and people are just scared to accept it because of the other people around them, and they do not want to have to put up with the persicution that we as LDS memebers have to go through. For generations we have been persicuted. My ancestors had to pick up everything and leave a lot of their stuff behind them, some dying, all to stand up for our religion and to get away from the aweful people who feel they need to be mean.

My boyfriends parents are Nazerene, and his father is very religious. I have had to put up with him saying a lot of mean and cruel things to me all because I am LDS. Before he knew I was LDS, he was really nice to me and accepted me. But after he found out my religious beliefs, he has been stand offish to me until he has something cruel to say about my religious beliefs.

For years, I have thought that I had to be LDS because my family was, but lately I have been through a life altering experience that has made me question my religion. For a long time I thought everyone was a cook and it wasn't worth all of what I have to go through to stand up for my religious beliefs, but when my friend and I stumbled upon this site and I started reading, it made me realize that I was caving into the worlds angryness and biterness towards the LDS people, and that I did not want to be like everyone who critizes something that they don't know much about. This site has made me turn back to my religion and really WANT to learn more and find out for myself if it is true or not.

Thank-you and I hope that this ignorance will stop and everyone will start finging out for themselves on what to believe or not and not blend in with the world and the cruel things they say. Please just take the time and figure it out for yourself and the next time a missionary tries to talk to you or even just a member of the Church tried to talk to you, give us a chance. We are not a cult and we do not expect you to believe what we do. We believe in freedom of religion and, unlike most churches, we do not critize others ways of thinking.
